Position details:-
Responsible for the researching, formulating, and implementing accounting policy in conjunction with SEC, GAAP, and other requirements.
Formulates and implements required accounting policy mandated by changes in GAAP and SEC requirements. Assesses the effects of policy mandates; determines the actions required to include restatement; and identifies disclosure issues.
Leads the policy initiatives on critical accounting issues.
Develops accounting and process changes as they relate to technical accounting best practice standards. Maintains financial controls to ensure the integrity and compliance of the Banks reporting standards are met.
Drafts SEC disclosures, including MD&A in conjunction with the Controller and the Chief Financial Officer.
Communicates accounting policy issues to other areas of the company through memos, policy and procedures manuals, and presentations.
Provides expertise for Accounting Services in SEC reporting issues and technical accounting matters.
Identifies and resolves accounting policy issues involved with the preparation of the financial statements and footnotes contained in the company’s quarterly and annual reports.
Facilitates the implementation of procedures supporting the accounting policies.
Interacts with the external auditor, the Finance Board, and subsidiaries to develop and implement appropriate and consistent accounting practices and policies throughout the System.
Networks with other industry thought leaders, standards setters, and regulators to stay at the forefront of issues and developments that will have a significant effect on the business strategies.
Provides assistance with financial reporting and disclosures as required.
A Bachelors degree in accounting, five years of accounting experience and two years of accounting policy experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
A Certified Public Accountant Certificate is required.
Must have experience with SEC reporting requirements and preparation of SEC filings are required.
Must possess a strong technical accounting background.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with executive management.
Must possess strong problem solving skills and must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Project management skills are a plus.
