PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports upon request. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. The Senior Accountant also reports the organization’s finances to management, and offers suggestions regarding resource utilization and assumptions underlying budget forecasts. This position must also be familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. The Senior Accountant must be able to perform a variety of complicated tasks.
Requirements:-
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related business degree, as well as five + years experience in the field or in a related area.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completion of financials
- Working with IT to improve accounting system reporting
- Working on other special projects to improve management reporting & financial analysis
- Assistance in completion of annual budget
- Assistance in completion of various quarterly and annual external audits
- Completion of financial reports for Senior Management
- Maintaining GL accounts
- Monitoring of various balance sheet accounts
- Completion of various weekly/monthly/annual reports
- Maintaining fixed asset system (addition, retirement, transfer, depreciation etc.)
- Oversee month end close period for GL and all subsystems
- Overseeing all subsystem journals generate/pull to GL and fixing journals if in errors; posting all monthly GL reversal journals created by users.
- Assisting AR and AP with month end close
- Analyzing and explaining material/unusual variances for month end pre-closing
- Maintaining fixed monthly accruals and prepayments amortization
- Reviewing and cleaning up outstanding open PO and not-invoiced PO receipts
- Maintaining notes payable/receivable interest and amortization schedule
EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related business degree
Over five (5) years experience in the field or in a related area
An MBA or CPA is a plus
